Leavenworth Fall Colors and Autumn Grandeur

Autumn is a beautiful time of year in Leavenworth as the leaves begin to change their colors. The change begins at higher elevations as you drive over the mountains turning the hill sides vibrant shades of reds and oranges.

To welcome the season Leavenworth celebrates with one the longest running festivals... The Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival. Floats and bands from around the Northwest come to participate in the grand parade. Enjoy an all you can eat breakfast in the park, live entertainment in the gazebo featuring a yodeler, accordion players, bands, dancers , and knights in combat! September 26 - 28.

Eight Pre-Winter Must Do's in Leavenworth

1. Walk or ride along the Wenatchee river in Waterfront Park. This is the season that the Salmon Spawn and you might just catch site of hundreds of them making their way to the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery.

2. Play golf at the Leavenworth Golf Course. The Autumn colors come out and as you play you'll enjoy incredible views over the river and thought the trees. This is one of the most charming golf courses in Washington State. While you're here and since you have your clubs along, Why not head up to Lake Wenatchee and play at Kahler Glen Golf Course too... then again, Highlander is just over in Wenatchee and warrants another day here as well!

3. Take an art walk. Leavenworth has more murals than any other town in Washington. In fact, we can't even keep count of them! You'll also find that many artisans have shops or galleries in the village, and Sleeping Lady even has an art walk map for their grounds.

4. You may have heard about the unique and friendly wineries that have established themselves in the Leavenworth area. Now is a great time to visit the winemakers. They may be in the midst of their harvest crush but that doesn't mean they won't take a moment to say hello! 5. Eat, Drink, and be Merry! Oktoberfest is here! Actually, there are even more festive events beginning with a quilt festival, the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival, and then three weekends of Oktoberfest.

6. Before you enjoy your winter activities, it's time to plan those fall hikes while the colors are still spectacular. The Forest Service recommends for fall color the Twin Lakes Trail. For larch, best sites are the Enchantments and Blewett Pass.

7. Enjoy the Cascade Loop Scenic Driving Tour! The Cascade Loop is one of the most famous Washington State attractions, and fall is the perfect time to enjoy it's natural wonders. The Cascade mountain range literally has more elevation gain from base to summits than the Rocky Mountains, and is replete with waterfalls, canyons, scenic vistas and incredible wildlife.
