Icicle Village Resort 2006 Update

May 22, 2006, Leavenworth Washington, - The Icicle Village Resort, Leavenworth’s only full-service resort complex, is pleased to announce a series of upgrades to the resort are in the process of being completed.

Construction of Phase I of the new Icicle Village Resort Condominiums is scheduled to begin in June 2006. The 22 condominium units will include a variety of one, two, and three bedroom units and wonderful amenities such as fireplaces, private balconies, whirlpool tubs, and full kitchens with stainless steel appliances. Prices are yet to be determined, but are anticipated to be in an affordable range of $225,000 to $350,000.

The construction of these condominium units necessitates some changes to the layout of the Icicle Village Resort. With the removal of the train ride and bumper boat pond, space is opening for the first three condominium buildings and a village square. The attractively landscaped village square will serve as the centerpiece for the complex. The Village Square will be surrounded by the Icicle Junction Activities Center, The Icicle Village Health Club and Spa that is being developed concurrently with construction of the condominiums, and expanded meeting facilities for the resort.

With these changes, the family fun center is being renamed the Icicle Junction Activities Center. The Activities Center will include the Junction Cinema showing first run hit movies, the video arcade with many new games, the 18-hole Bavarian theme miniature golf course, and a new Coca-Cola® Soda Fountain. Future special events and planned activities are also being explored.

The Alpine Coffee Roasters Tasting Room was recently purchased by the resort and has been upgraded to the Black Bear Café and Coffee House. With the addition of complimentary wireless Internet access for guests, a new deck offering beautiful views of Tumwater Canyon, and a completely new breakfast and lunch menu, you'll find the Black Bear a great place to gather with friends. Keep watching for more changes at the Black Bear. Not only will beer and wine be available soon, but we will be open for evenings in the summer. Expect to see great events such as the upcoming Winemakers evening on the lawn and other special events and entertainment throughout the seasons.

The Best Western Icicle Inn has also been upgraded. Most of the guest rooms have had enhancements including pillow top mattresses, new duvet covers and window treatments, as well as fresh painting. Granite countertops will be installed before the summer season. You'll also find the lobby has a warmer feel with more wood accents. The entire hotel, conference rooms, and restaurant offer complimentary wireless Internet access for guests.

J. J. Hills Restaurant has added a Wine Bar that is a comfortable lounge setting to await dinner guests or to relax with a wide selection of local and regional Northwest wines along with great appetizers.

The Aspen Suites condominiums opened in August of 2005. They offer over 1,000 square feet of beautifully appointed living space for overnight guests. These units offer two bedrooms including a master bedroom with a fireplace, two baths including a master bath with a whirlpool tub, a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a living and dining area with a second fireplace, and private decks offering beautiful mountain views. They are ideally suited for guests seeking to enjoy Leavenworth’s wide variety of outdoor adventure opportunities and fun activities for an extended length of time.
